Teradyne opened its first dedicated India office on September 15 in Bengaluru’s Bagmane Cosmos Tech Park, in the Vesta Building. Karnataka’s Minister for Home, IT, Biotechnology and E-Governance, Priyank Kharge, cut the ribbon.

Dr Avinash Menon, IAS Director at KIDS, attended alongside senior Teradyne executives and industry attendees. Teradyne CEO Greg Smith said India is “at an inflection point in its semiconductor journey.” India Country Manager Alpa Sood leads the new office, which will handle customer engagement, applications support, training and strategic partnerships.

A launch timed to a trade show

The Bengaluru opening precedes a second appearance within days. TimesTech reports Teradyne will attend SEMICON India in New Delhi from September 17 to 19, putting a permanent local base and a flagship industry showcase within 48 hours of each other.

The government has folded the opening into its own policy narrative. Amitesh Kumar Sinha, CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission, told Electronics For You that Teradyne’s permanent presence would strengthen the domestic value chain as fabrication, packaging and testing capacity scales up, an explicit link between one company’s office and the ISM’s manufacturing mandate.

Kharge pointed to Karnataka’s 21 Centres of Excellence in his remarks, framing the state’s role as infrastructural rather than ceremonial. SEMICON India runs in New Delhi from September 17 to 19, two days after the Bengaluru ribbon-cutting.
