Expert Dojo’s Ambitious Investment in India

Expert Dojo, a Southern California-based early-stage venture capital and growth accelerator firm, has announced a significant investment initiative aimed at boosting the Indian startup ecosystem. This move underscores the firm’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting early-stage Indian entrepreneurs.

Focus on Diverse Sectors

During the Expert Dojo Investors Conclave 2025 in Bangalore, the firm detailed its strategy to invest in 20 to 25 early-stage startups in India within the first year. The focus will be on sectors such as fintech, B2B, SaaS, and AI. Despite being sector-agnostic, the primary criterion for investment is global scalability. Investment amounts will range from $50,000 to $1 million per startup, providing founders with not only capital but also access to Expert Dojo’s extensive international mentorship and go-to-market network.

Long-Term Vision for Indian Startups

Over the next two to three years, Expert Dojo plans to deepen its engagement with the Indian innovation ecosystem by investing an additional $30 million. This long-term vision is part of the firm’s strategy to nurture startups with high growth potential, equipping them with the resources needed to thrive in a competitive global market.

A Proven Track Record

Since its inception in India, Expert Dojo has invested in over 30 Indian startups, including notable names like Bhive, Cloudworx, Consuma, Mugafi, The Rollnumber, Fudr, and Doqfy. Globally, the firm has supported over 300 startups, offering invaluable resources and guidance to help entrepreneurs overcome scaling challenges.

Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Founded in 2018, Expert Dojo has positioned itself as a global early-stage startup accelerator with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Impressively, 41% of its investments have gone to female-founded companies, surpassing the average of other top US accelerators. This commitment reflects the firm’s belief in the power of diverse perspectives to drive innovation and success.

Why India?

India’s startup ecosystem is burgeoning, with a rapidly growing number of innovative companies emerging across various sectors. According to a report by NASSCOM, India is home to over 9,300 tech startups, making it the third-largest startup ecosystem globally. Expert Dojo’s investment in India is a strategic move to tap into this vibrant market and support the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Global Comparisons and Insights

Expert Dojo’s approach is not unique but part of a broader trend where global venture capital firms are increasingly looking towards India. Sequoia Capital, for example, has been actively investing in Indian startups, with a focus on tech-driven companies. Similarly, Accel has a strong presence in India, supporting startups with high growth potential.

The Road Ahead

For Indian entrepreneurs, Expert Dojo’s investment offers a unique opportunity to access not only financial resources but also mentorship and a global network. This support can be crucial in navigating the challenges of scaling a startup, particularly in a competitive global market.

Conclusion

Expert Dojo’s $100 million fund represents a significant boost for the Indian startup ecosystem. By focusing on sectors with global scalability and maintaining a commitment to diversity and inclusion, the firm is poised to make a substantial impact. As India continues to cement its position as a global startup hub, initiatives like these will be instrumental in shaping the future of innovation in the country.
