TraceX Develops Data Solutions for Supply Chain Verification

How TraceX Is Building The Data Layer For Verifiable Supply Chains

Share

TraceX Technologies is tackling a critical challenge in the food industry: ensuring the traceability and safety of supply chains. As consumers increasingly demand transparency, the Bengaluru-based startup is building a data layer to verify every step of a product’s journey, from farm to table. This development is crucial in a country like India, where food safety issues are prevalent, and the market remains largely unorganized.

### Building a Verifiable Supply Chain

Founded in 2019 by Srivatsa Sreenivasarao, TraceX Technologies provides a platform that captures, connects, and verifies supply chain data at scale. By leveraging AI, the startup offers solutions for EU Deforestation-free Regulation compliance, food traceability, and sustainability reporting. These services are essential for agribusinesses and packaged food companies aiming to meet global standards.

TraceX operates with a team of about 20 people, following an enterprise-led model with a minimum annual ticket size of ₹18–20 Lakh. In FY25, the company recorded a revenue of around ₹3 Cr, aiming for an annual recurring revenue of ₹4.5 Cr in FY26. The platform’s ability to provide end-to-end visibility is becoming increasingly important as supply chains grow more complex.

### Context and Competition

The need for verifiable supply chains is underscored by India’s ranking of 102nd out of 123 countries on the Global Hunger Index. Unsafe food consumption claims 420,000 lives annually worldwide, highlighting the importance of TraceX’s mission. The Indian food traceability market is expected to reach $1.7 Bn by the end of the decade, presenting significant opportunities for companies like TraceX.

However, the competition is intensifying. Companies such as Cropin focus on farm intelligence, while TRST01 emphasizes blockchain-led traceability. TraceX differentiates itself by integrating traceability, regulatory compliance, and sustainability reporting into a single platform. This comprehensive approach allows businesses to use supply chain data for decision-making and regulatory alignment.

### Implications for India’s Startup Ecosystem

TraceX’s work has broader implications for India’s startup ecosystem, particularly in sectors like agriculture, food, and commodities. By collaborating with over 2.3 Lakh farmers and 30 enterprise clients, including Nestlé and Organic India, TraceX is setting a precedent for how technology can enhance supply chain transparency.

As regulations around sourcing transparency and carbon reporting tighten, especially in markets like Europe, Indian companies are under pressure to adopt verifiable, data-backed operations. This trend is expected to drive demand for solutions like TraceX, which facilitate compliance with global standards.

Looking ahead, TraceX is poised to expand its footprint in international markets, particularly in Europe, where regulatory requirements are becoming more stringent. As the demand for transparent supply chains grows, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on this shift, potentially paving the way for other Indian startups to follow suit.
