According to N Manjula, Secretary to the Government, Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology (ITBT), "Elevate NxT is a key milestone in Karnataka’s DeepTech Decade, aimed at translating frontier research into globally competitive technologies."

The Bigger Picture: Karnataka’s Startup Policy 2025–2030

The Elevate NxT program is part of a broader vision outlined in Karnataka’s new startup policy for 2025–2030. This ambitious plan aims to establish 25,000 new startups over the next five years, with at least 10,000 emerging from clusters beyond Bengaluru. The state has allocated Rs 5,70,675 crore to focus on:

  • Funding access
  • Incubation infrastructure
  • Market expansion
  • Regulatory facilitation

The policy emphasizes decentralizing startup activities beyond Bengaluru and prioritizes sectors like AI, blockchain, quantum computing, biotechnology, and sustainability-linked technologies.

Why Elevate NxT Matters to You

If you’re involved in the startup ecosystem, Elevate NxT offers several benefits:

  • Access to Funding: With grants and milestone-based funding, startups can secure the financial support needed to innovate and scale.
  • Mentorship and Ecosystem Support: Sector-aligned mentorship can provide invaluable guidance, helping startups navigate challenges and leverage opportunities.
  • Focus on Innovation: By targeting transformative technologies, Elevate NxT encourages innovation that can lead to significant technological advancements.

The Impact on India’s Deeptech Landscape

India’s deeptech sector is poised for growth, and Karnataka’s initiative could serve as a catalyst. By nurturing startups in key technological areas, the program supports innovation-led economic growth. This aligns with global trends where deeptech startups are increasingly recognized for their potential to disrupt industries and create new markets.

A Global Perspective

Programs like Elevate NxT are not unique to India. Globally, countries like the USA and Germany have similar initiatives supporting deeptech innovation. For example, Y Combinator in the USA offers funding and mentorship to early-stage startups, emphasizing transformative technologies.

What’s Next for You?

If you’re a startup founder or tech enthusiast, consider how programs like Elevate NxT can benefit your venture. Could this be an opportunity to pivot towards deeptech? Are there collaborations you can explore within this ecosystem?

Conclusion

Karnataka’s Elevate NxT program marks a significant step in fostering deeptech innovation in India. By providing financial support, mentorship, and a structured ecosystem, it empowers startups to push the boundaries of technology. As the state aims to decentralize startup activities and focus on transformative technologies, the future looks promising for India’s deeptech landscape. How will you leverage this opportunity to shape the future?
