Sychedelic secures .5 million for AI-driven mental wellness headphones
Share

Delhi NCR-based startup Sychedelic has raised $3.5 million in seed funding to advance its development of AI-powered mental wellness headphones. This funding round, supported by investors such as Cultadvisors LLP, TurboStart, Ideabaaz, and Praveek Ventures, highlights a growing interest in wearable technology that addresses mental health, a sector gaining momentum in India’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.

## The Company and Its Product

Sychedelic, founded in 2020 by Ria Rustagi and Bhavya Madan, initially launched as Neuphony, focusing on EEG-based neurofeedback headbands. The company has since rebranded and pivoted towards creating sophisticated headphones designed to alleviate stress, enhance focus, and improve sleep. These devices integrate real-time biofeedback and neuromodulation technologies. The headphones employ biometric tracking, adaptive AI, and neurostimulation methods, including transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and binaural beats. The use of photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors allows the headphones to monitor users’ stress and cognitive states, adapting the stimulation based on real-time data.

The startup’s innovative approach has garnered approval from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), and it has filed global patent applications for its technology. Sychedelic’s focus on adaptive real-time stimulation positions it uniquely in the wearables market, promising a tailored user experience based on live biometric feedback.

## Market Context and Competition

India’s smart wearables market is rapidly expanding, projected to reach $10.26 billion by 2031. This growth is driven by an increasing consumer focus on health and wellness, a trend that tech startups are keen to capitalize on. Sychedelic’s entry into this market places it in competition with both emerging startups and established players who are innovating in the domain of health-focused wearables.

The mental wellness segment within wearables is particularly competitive, with companies racing to offer solutions that combine technology with personal health management. Sychedelic’s integration of AI and neuromodulation could set it apart in a crowded field, where differentiation is key to capturing market share.

## Implications for India’s Startup Ecosystem

Sychedelic’s successful funding round reflects broader trends in India’s startup ecosystem, where healthtech and wearable technology are seeing increased investor interest. The startup’s focus on mental wellness also underscores a shift towards holistic health solutions, which are becoming a priority for tech innovators in India.

The approval from CDSCO and the filing of global patents highlight the startup’s commitment to regulatory compliance and intellectual property protection, crucial factors for sustainable growth and international expansion. Sychedelic’s plans for a global Kickstarter launch in 2026 indicate its ambition to capture a worldwide market, leveraging India’s cost-effective tech expertise while expanding its footprint in the United States and beyond.

As Sychedelic moves forward with its plans, founders and investors alike will be watching closely to see how the startup navigates the challenges of scaling production and entering new markets. The success of its upcoming Kickstarter campaign could serve as a bellwether for the viability of AI-driven mental wellness solutions in the global market. This development could also influence other Indian startups to explore innovative applications of AI in wearable technology, further enriching the country’s tech landscape.
